After ten years in Madrid, the UVNT Art Fair (Urvanity Art) adopted a new identity and became CAN Art Fair (Contemporary Art Now) Madrid, unifying the brand with its Ibiza event, now in its fourth edition.

The 10th edition of the Madrid fair takes place at Matadero Madrid from March 5 to 8, with the participation of 55 galleries (29, all European, in the Main section) and 10 in the Young Galleries section, 5 in Counterflow, and 6 in Focus Latam, which includes the Argentinian gallery Praxis, plus 5 more in Solo/Duo Projects.

(Praxis) In its debut at the fair, in the Focus Latam section, it presents works by four artists who explore the symbolic and conceptual power of Latin American textile art: Josefina Concha, Candelaria Fernández Coya, Elisa Lutteral, and Diego Miccige.

In her work, Concha (Santiago, Chile, 1985) draws on artisanal tradition and its connection to nature, reflecting “centuries of Latin American heritage through the communion between craft and nature.” Lutteral (Buenos Aires, 1992), also a textile artist, introduces unconventional organic materials, such as corn husks and human hair, to explore themes related to the cycles of life and death, decay and rebirth.

Fernández Coya (Buenos Aires, 1991) uses drawing—primarily with pencil and oil—to intertwine references to Greek mythology and Renaissance iconography.

Finally, Miccige (Buenos Aires, 1972) revives ancestral textile practices to reflect on the links between past and present, articulating the Andean worldview both as a tribute and as a conceptual exploration of the origins of textile art, conceived from the beginning as a symbol of human connection.
