This year, for the first time, it includes galleries from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico , in a special section on Latin America. Each year, participating exhibitors are selected by an internal committee of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism .
Maneli Keykavoussi brings together this new section specializing in Latin America, with galleries such as Praxis , Dan Galería, Pablo Goebel Fine Arts, Galeria Karla Osorio, Galeria La Cometa and Casa Zirio. The Praxis gallery will present the textile and Latin artist Josefina Concha E.
As part of its DNA, the gallery has a mission to bring Latin American art to new horizons . This will be its debut to the Middle Eastern public. Josefina is a master of textile art who rescues centuries of Latin American heritage through a communion with craftsmanship and nature.
There she uses elements such as skin, hair, plants and animals as initial inspiration , and has found in the thousands of layers of woven thread the possibility of painting and drawing without depending on those means, echoing the tradition that has been passed down through generations of women.
