Patrick Gläscher | Nocturno

Draw with your soul a lunar essay about landscape and light.

In the work of Patrick Glascher the epiphany of beauty in music is the same revelation of the silver light of water. This author has the intense poetics of romanticism, Caspar Friederich, the master of landscape, is an immanent quote in his works, soaring through the clouds from the highest peak of a mountain and navigating the mysterious waters of the delta are the forms that the artist transfigures in his construction site.

All the great painters wondered about the mystical force of the landscape, that which reconciles us with something superior and transcendent, with the infinite, and resizes us on a new scale about the forces of life, an existential and philosophical look that gives us back the power of witnessing the perfection that emanates from Nature.

Hiroshi Sugimoto with his seas in black and white, Sally Mann with Deep South, Luis Benedit with his travelers and explorers of the unknown, Ana Gallardo, Mauro Giaconi, and Matias Duville, join Glascher as artists with the will to draw a landscape in graphite that does not stop unfolding on the white surface of the void.

As in Conrad’s special stories, the artist as a traveler creates a story, fictionalizes the overflowing beauty of the landscape and installs it in the symbolic dimension of contemplation as a subjective transmutation. These unique pieces open a silver journey, like the perfect resonance of the pieces of a Chopin nocturne on the piano, his paintings begin to shine like the delicate light of autumn and spring. The vegetation leans over the water, caresses the waves, a Turner, a J L Ortiz, or a Saer, slide into the memory of the landscape.

The water, the horizon, the light, the river, an evanescent experience. The sky shining, the landscape unfolds, a surreal mirror opens in our transit through the delta, and the water is light and magic shines before our eyes, the atmosphere of an expanded state becomes material in the painting, there in that moment of revelation, the river reigns over our body and transports us to that deep inner journey of encounter with ourselves.
