Mirella Musri | Refugio

In the series “Shelters”, the plastic artist, Mirella Musri, alludes to the multiple places in which we can feel safe and also find a space for delight. From his intellectual sagacity and chromatic sensitivity, Musri reminds us that these protected places can be physical, emotional and/or spiritual.

In turn, the series “Refugios” was nourished by the interactivity of social networks, since the artist, through the question: What is your refuge? He received varied responses from his contacts that served as inspiration. This series shows that sometimes the desired protection can be found in the inner world, when the individual allows himself to enjoy music, literature, meditation, nature, human relationships, or in other spaces that differ. according to personal tastes. Through his woodcuts, paintings and ceramics, the hybrid and fabulous characters with an innocent aura explore different possible ways of finding shelter from external threats. Just as the violinist comforts himself with his sweet melody, the passionate reader broadens his horizons by allowing himself to be subjugated by the object of his affection. While placid nature becomes effective protection for spirits dazed by the whirlwind of big cities. As an eloquent visual puzzle, Musri’s “Shelters” reflect on current problems, reflecting on her vast career as an illustrator. The need to protect oneself from the dangers of the outside world becomes an imperative for survival in the case of refugees. An alert about the urgency of empathy and solidarity in the face of the advances of war terrorism. For their part, the followers can be the solace of their leader and he theirs, as long as their ties are supported by reciprocal and loving loyalty.
