Marcela Aphalo | Entre el cielo y la tierra

In the Chinese worldview it is said that there is heaven, earth and between them, man.” From the point of view of man: since he possesses, in addition to his own nature, the virtues of heaven and earth, he can only realize himself by taking charge of them. In this perspective, heaven and earth represent space and time at the same time”… (Francois Cheng. Emptiness and fullness)
Sometimes the questions more than the answers are what lead us to approach any expressive work. If we look away from everyday life, everything becomes a great mystery. We walk between lights and shadows. Each moment lived, tangible, is no longer tangible the next. Time is an illusion that slips away and that is how our story is put together. Everything changes in a constant flow.
This is the starting point. The images emerge as intuitions, interests and questions about the world around us, a desire to get closer to what we cannot define. Childhood as a reservoir of experiences is resignified from another time in the present, then the materials appear.
These works were born as drawings. I draw the shapes but in a second stage the lines escape from the plane, seeking to materialize, dreaming of new forms. The lines are dynamic and lead me in movement. The thread approached by the light shows the illusion of other possible forms and the darkness of the projections takes center stage.
Doing allows me to discover beyond the intention. This being the case, what is apparent is not always what it seems at first, another look is possible.
