Beatriz Moreiro | Mientras descansan los árboles

Several decades ago my eyes, my hands and my body strengthened deep ties with nature. Elements of this environment thus enter the scene, which were developed in the different series: basket bugs, beetles, tacurúes, wasp nests, nests, flowers, cacti, collections. I draw, record, build objects and put together installations. I adapted my language to bear witness to what happens in my landscape. Although there may be many possible story forms, I create the form of my own story. I was born in Buenos Aires and many years ago I decided to come to northern Argentina, to Resistencia, Chaco. I needed more and more to delve into this natural world. That’s how I built my house blending in with the trees, between the mountains, the estuary, the river and the land, merging with them, trying to decipher their languages. I was able to wake up every morning to sounds of birds. I could hear the cicadas on very hot days, or choruses of frogs after the rain. I was able to walk along the edge of the estuary, penetrate the mountain, and see how the powerful caraguatás offered their custody. I was able to walk in burned fields and see the lilies emerging from that blackness. I collected remains from that devastated mountain and went to bed every night listening to the crickets, under the light of the moon or the stars. I drew engraving plates with burnt fields and built steel caraguatás. I was able to observe the inert, motionless trees, sleeping an infinite sleep, covered in woven vegetation growing on their bark. In them, small and aerial landscapes were generated. As with the tree, with my pencil I made similar landscapes on the white sheet of paper. Everything is closely related, over time. The transcendence of the minimum is found through the image. I seek to create elements of interpretation of reality, and through form, invite us to reflect on the meaning of existence. Nature manifests itself, shows itself, and I enter into communion with that universe, I simply feel like a continuator of that action, I re-create it in my work. How she built my own universe.
