The exhibition, which includes collages, sculptures from Argentina and cinema, together examines how images are constructed and gender is created.
“The female body has been, and continues to be, systematically conditioned to respond to very defined archetypes of beauty and youth. In my work, I observe this and try to reduce it, and at the same time make it even more complex; female figures reveal themselves, become queer, suffer, have fun and accompany each other in the process of dismantling the hegemonic (male) eye and its intrinsic violence towards oppressed bodies,” says Pinchiero.
The exhibition is an installation of almost 5 meters by 2 and a half meters, which houses figures cut out of classical statues and life models. There is a deep reflection on classical beauty, artistic creation, challenging the dichotomy between being adored and being loved. It will be open to the public at Praxis New York until March 9.
