Gaspar Libedinsky | Arrecife Para Vestir

Images of a kaleidoscopic reef to be dived.
The works generate an immersive experience.
The imaginary arises from the site-specific installation “The Origin of Species” (Praxis, 2018): a coral reef made from bundles of bristles from domestic brooms.
Exploration invites the discovery of animal, plant, archaeological and mythological figures.
Each print is characterized by varying degrees of focus and distortion typical of an underwater world where perception is altered.
They are mirage operations and double symmetries of patterns that act like Rorschach spots: a true underwater psychology test.
“Reef to dress” both the space and the body.

“Pajamas” from the Arrecife Para Dress series
A performative installation occupies the Vidriera Space where the site-specific work The Origin of Species was exhibited in 2018: a coral reef made from bundles of bristles from domestic brooms.
On this occasion that coral barrier rises from the plane to wrap the body in the form of clothing.
The stained glass window operates as a screen. Domestic life made public and public life made domestic, systemic adaptation typical of pandemic times.
