In a publication on her Instagram account, this tuesday the artist Romina Orazi, recognized for her paintings that recreate scenes of large fires in the national territory and in Latin America, in addition to working with logs burned by fire, posted images of her work Fires and appealed to “solidarity and environmental empathy.” Last year, at Praxis, Orazi did an anthological exhibition, Partículas del fuego.

The patagonian artist published fragments of an article co-written by the philosopher Maristella Svampa and the environmental lawyer Enrique Viale for the news portal elDiarioAr, titled “Fires, the conspiracy advances”, where they criticize the Government’s “denialism” regarding the environmental crisis and the dismantling (and defunding) of environmental care policies. The fires in El Bolsón caused one death, hundreds of evacuated families, arbitrary arrests of brigade members and incalculable material losses.

For Orazi in recent years, “the exponential multiplication of images of forest fires forms a redundant plot of images whose sign is danger, and poses an aesthetic and moral problem,” she tells LA NACIÓN.
